Why did you choose your profession?

Early on in my work history on my first job I saw a lot of folks with missing fingers and hands; I wanted to make a difference and have folks go home every day to their loved ones and hobbies and enjoy [those things] for years to come.

What is the most important thing to do to be effective in your role?

Without a doubt, lead by example. If what we are teaching and preaching is not important to us, it will not be important to [others].

Have you ever had an incident that changed you, and how did you approach it with your role?

When I was 17, I was loading and unloading pop trucks, and somehow my hand was outside of the protection rails on the lift truck and shattered my thumb bone, which took over 6 months to heal. I now use this scar to show new operators how quick things can happen.

What do you want everyone to know about safety?

We all have someone who is waiting for us to come home safely everyday—be it a spouse, child, parent or a 4 legged pet wagging their tail waiting.

What is your superpower?

I don’t consider myself to have any superpowers—just to have compassion and care for all my employees.
